St. Margaret’s School Students spend Service Day at WIN
On April 17th, two enthusiastic and energetic groups of St. Margaret’s School students visited our production centres to have tours, as well as to drop off donations in support of WIN programs. The grade 7 class arrived with a heaping truck load of clothing and everyone seemed to have fun helping us fill our clothing cage.
The grade 6 class got bags left over from the marathon and re-sewed them with handmade inspirational quotes into totes to hold donated toys and books for children that are part of our New Start Program. The New Start Program helps to furnish a home for families moving out of transition homes, and toys are often included.
Here is one of the bags getting packed into a New Start Package.
At the end of the day, we were also given an envelope with a cheque for $1068.15 raised by the Leadership 9 and 10 classes at a local concession. This generous cheque will go directly to support our programs.
Judging by the students’ enthusiasm when they visited the store at the end of their tour, I think we may have gained a few shoppers as well. It was a wonderful day. It is so great to have the students be involved in the work that WIN does.
